Golliwog Doll
If you are as old as I am, perhaps you remember gollywog stories by Florence Kate Upton. She wrote them from the end of the 19th century until 1902. The gollywogs were little black minstrel boys who had all kinds of funny adventures.A friend of mine in Toronto mentioned that his mother made him a gollywog doll when he was young and it brought back memories of some of the favorite books of my childhood. So here he is, a darling little gollywog with fuzzy black hair, a little clown face, blue and white striped pants, a bowtie, a white waistcoat, and a red jacket. He's 16" tall.
